Implementation Approaches

Goal: By January 2020, Buffalo County Health and Human Services staff and community partners will promote a healthy culture by offering three alternatives to excessive alcohol and/or other drug consumption.

Objectives: 

  • There will be a 20% increase of engagement in physical activity by Buffalo County residents.
  • 75% of the school districts will be active with the ‘Parents Who Host, Lose The Most’ campaign.

Goal: By December 31st, 2019, there will be a 1% reduction of alcohol and drug related injury and/or violence among Buffalo County residents.

Objectives: 

  • Buffalo County Health and Human Services staff and community partners will identify and promote support group opportunities within Buffalo County.
  • Buffalo County Health and Human Services staff and community partners will identify and promote Safe Ride program availability within Buffalo County.

Goal: By January 2020, there will be a lower prevalence of prescription drug abuse within Buffalo County Residents.

Objectives: 

  • Buffalo County will have added at least one additional prescription drop box within the county.
  • Three seminars will be conducted by Buffalo County Health and Human Services staff and community partners to provide medication management and education with seniors.

Goal: By January 2020, knowledge and awareness of mental health will be enhanced among Buffalo County residents, and stigma surrounding mental health will be reduced.

Objectives:

  • 50% of the school districts within the county will have a policy requiring Question Persuade Refer (QPR) training among all staff. 
  • Buffalo County Health and Human Services staff and community partners will facilitate three presentations each year on mental health in Buffalo County.
  • Buffalo County Health and Human Services staff and community partners will meet annually with law enforcement about mental health and available services.
  • Buffalo County Health and Human Services staff and community partners will conduct three outreach initiatives to provide information about mental health services accessible to Buffalo County residents.
