Implementation Approaches

Goal: Decrease alcohol and drug misuse and abuse in CWHP Counties

CWHP Objective: By 2019, at least one new or existing strategy will be implemented, strengthened, or expanded to help increase use of outreach, intervention, treatment, and support services.

Possible Strategies:

  • SBIRT (Screening, Brief Intervention, and Referral to Treatment)
  • Responsible beverage server training
  • Alcohol access restrictions in public places
  • Alcohol compliance checks

Goal: Increase physical activity and improve healthy nutrition in Juneau County residents

Juneau County Objective: By 2019, at least one new or existing strategy will be implemented, strengthened, or expanded upon to help people become and or maintain physical activity and healthier eating habits.

Possible Strategies:

  • Farm to School program
  • Wellness coalition
  • Fit Families
  • Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) clinics
  • Strong Women Strong Bones
  • Community gardens
  • Bike and walking paths
  • Farmers' markets
  • Physical education and activities in schools

Goal: Decrease smoking rates and reduce minor access to tobacco products in Juneau County

Juneau County Objective: By 2019, at least one new or existing strategy will be implemented, strengthened, or expanded upon to help increase use of outreach, treatment, and support services for tobacco cessation and reduce minor access to tobacco products.

Possible Strategies:

  • First Breath - cessation program for pregnant women
  • Tobacco compliance checks
  • Retail assessments for product placement
  • Active FACT youth groups in schools
  • Statewide QUITLINE (1-800-784-8669)
  • SPARK - generating tobacco free awareness and advocacy
  • Clear Gains - smoke free multi-unit housing initiative
  • WiNTiP (Wisconsin Nicotine Treatment Integration Project)

Goal: Improve mental health and decrease suicide rates in CWHP counties

CWHP Objective: By 2019, at least one new or existing strategy will be implemented, strengthened, or expanded upon to help increase and enhance mental health protective factors.

Possible Strategies:

  • Community mentorship programs
  • Life skills training
  • Mental health first aid
  • Coping skills training
  • Telemental health services
  • Trauma informed communities
  • Bullying prevention programs
  • Means restriction education
  • QPR (Question, Persuade, Refer) trainings
  • Suicide prevention coalition

Goal: To incorporate health in all policies within Juneau County.

Juneau County Objective: By 2019, at least one new or existing strategy will be implemented, strengthened, or expanded upon to help the residents of Juneau County improve their health in all policies.

Possible Strategies:

  • Develop and structure multi-agency collaboration
  • Enhance workforce capacity
  • Incorporate health into decision making (health lens checklist)
  • Champion HiAP where you work, live, and play
  • HiAP resolution
  • Enhance community engagement
