Implementation Approaches

Goal: Decrease alcohol and drug misuse and abuse in CWHP counties

CWHP Objective: By 2022, at least one new or existing strategy will be implemented, strengthened, or expanded to help increase use of outreach, intervention, treatment, and support services for alcohol and drug misuse.

Possible Strategies:

  • SBIRT (Screening, Brief Intervention, and Referral to Treatment)
  • Responsible beverage server training
  • Alcohol access restrictions in public places

Goal: Decrease alcohol and drug misuse and abuse in CWHP counties

CWHP Objective: By 2022, at least one new or existing strategy will be implemented, strengthened, or expanded to help increase use of outreach, intervention, treatment, and support services for alcohol and drug misuse.

Possible Strategies:

  • Drug court
  • Prescription drug monitoring program
  • Naloxone education and distribution
  • Drug drop boxes
  • SBIRT (Screening, Brief Intervention, and Referral to Treatment)

Goal: Promote chronic disease prevention and management

Objective: By 2022, one new or existing strategy will be implemented, strengthened, or expanded upon to help promote chronic disease prevention and management.

Possible Strategies:

  • Breastfeeding promotion programs
  • Community walking or running groups
  • Exercise prescriptions
  • Tobacco cessation programs
  • National diabetes prevention program
  • Chronic disease self management classes
  • Point of decision prompts

Goal: Improve mental health and decrease suicide rates in CWHP counties

CWHP Objective: By 2022, at least one new or existing strategy will be implemented, strengthened, or expanded upon to help increase and enhance mental health protective factors.

Possible Strategies:

  • Community mentorship programs
  • Mental health first aid
  • Coping skills training
  • Telemental health services
  • Trauma informed communities
  • Bullying prevention programs
  • Means restriction education
